Olive It.

I've done some dumb crap in my house.

A lot of dumb crap.

Thankfully, the photo gallery wall idea isn't one of them.

So do you wanna see? I'll show you mine if you show me yours.

Well, first off, let us view my odd little walkway, yet again.

Aw. There it is. Was.

So this space was going to be the coolest pantry known to man-- ya know what? Let's not go there.
Moving on.
To one side, we now have our Music Book Shelves.

As seen in Exhibit A, above.
And the other side? The other side shall be my photo gallery wall. Why do I love pictures so much and have so few of them in my house? Minds are baffled.

Tortured myself Painted my wall back to white,

and then I went with Ana's Gallery Shelves.

'Cause they are easy peasy. Not like the tent "easy".
Easy, as in, "these shelves are so easy to make that it makes painting seem hard and annoying. So, soooo annoying." That kind of easy.

(Look Dad! They're all level! There's a first time for everything!)

Are you ready to see? 'Cause I loved putting pictures on this bad boy. Just picked my very favorites.

Some are oldies,

some are newbies,

but all are goodies. I mean, tell me this awesome picture of my grandma who just passed, next to her siblings, isn't darned awesome. I dare ya.

Anyhow. Shopped my own house for frames, and then hit it to the dollar store. Yep. I said the dollar store.

Betcha can't tell.

Oh, you can not either!
Check out how different my odd little walkway is now.

Bada-boom, bada-bing. See it at night?

It even has it's own little light. Aw. . .

I love it, Mandi! I did a gallery wall several months ago after we moved in to our new place. Had all the pictures done in black and white and used black frames/white mats. I love the way it looks! I think the black and white makes for a stunning display. The best thing though is that it is all favorite pictures of my favorite people!

I love it too! I actually added a couple of these to my living room wall. Looking at yours, I wish I added more rows. Great job.

Sharp, VERY sharp! I'm about to do some floating shelves, with a bit of the look you have going there. By the way, we all have the "oops!" projects, the only difference is some of us (I've got your back!) "keep it real". Here's to "keeping it real" sister!

Love it love it love it love it. I totally laughed at the level thing because I used to never use one, now I use on religiously so everything always looks perfect.

I'm debating doing one a wall dining room area because I have huge blank walls, but first probably need a dining room table. And I'm not sure yet what pics I would fill it with because I'm not an awesome photag like you. Deets whatever. If we were neighbors, I would suggest we go in on a paint spray gun together, then I would imagine painting wouldn't suck as much, because I hate it too. When I first bought my house I was so against any type of stained wood and all for painted white everything, but then I realized how much of a B painting is, so I was all, staining it is!

Mandi, I love your blog and how you keep it real! You crack me up!! Does your hubby think you're funny? The shelf is fab! I'll be doing one when/if we ever find 'the right house'.

How come you are so amazing?!? I have been talking about/thinking about a photo gallery wall for, um months. Not with those cool shelves, but just frames on the wall. Ask me where I am on that project. Anyway, I love the new addition!

I love it!! I am in the process of a photo wall. I thought the same thing about pictures, they should be out to see not just in a book somewhere.

I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your photography is so awesome, I'm so excited for you to have a place to display some of your great shots of your family. It looks so perfect in that spot, Mandi!! I love the leaning and layered frames of all sizes. Such a great gallery wall.

Not that you asked for this opinion, but you're like blog family to me, so I'm giving it. Smack some wall paint on your doorbell box wouldya? I was hating all over mine which is right in the middle of my foyer wall, until I painted that sucker up, and now it just kind of recedes into the wall. I know you love to paint!

I guess not fat guys are allowed in your house, that hallway looks little tight, but great idea, and it really looks nice. I wish I had empty wall somewhere.

Wow - what a difference! And I LOVE the mix of black and white frames! This is definitely a great alternative if you can't have the pantry. :)

I was searching for something (couldn't tell you now what that was, because I've been clicking through your blog for half an hour it seems) and found your blog. LOVE IT. Straight to the google reader and the "blogs I love" section of my sidebar.

Ahem.

Now.

This looks SO GREAT! I want to do something like this in our house, but I won't be able to do the shelves all the way down to the floor. My young'ns would be all over that!

I LOVE the picture wall!! It looks fantastic. I was wondering what the measurement between the shelves is and how far from the floor you started the first one?

Love it! One question...did you attach the trim to the front with those little tacking nails?

Tori said...

Yours look like they aren't as wide...did you use a different size board for the base?

I love the shelves you did in order to complete a whole wall gallery. I have featured this gallery wall on my blog as one of my favorites: http://www.thelovenerds.com/2013/03/gallery-wall-pinspiration.html

Thanks!
